Mike Long

Mike Long was born December 8, 1959 in Columbia, Missouri.  He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he bowled Collegiate for the Tigers (1978- 1982).  After graduation, he took a teaching position in Topeka at French Middle School.  Mike has coached football, boys & girls basketball, wrestling, track and bowling.  He has been a Kansas resident for 24 years, but still calls Missouri his home. 

     He served on the Topeka Bowling Association board of directors from 1986 until 2002,  as the Association Secretary/Executing Director.  In 1992 he was selected as the Executive Director for the Kansas State Bowling Association "Hall of Fame" in 2000. Mike has 3 TBA city Tournament team titles (1998, 2000, and 2001). with Bill Busby in 1998 & 2000 and Riney Rinehart in 2001.   He has participated in many local city tournaments ( Topeka, and Wichita), the city mixed tournament, the Honkie Classic, the Atchi-Kan, the Oil Capitol and the Greater Ozarks Open tournaments.  He has competed in 23 consecutive ABC/USBC National tournaments with a 300 game bowled in the 1989 (Wichita) National tournament in the doubles event.   Mark Gingrich was his partner. 

     Mike has a2-800 series to his credit, 13 - 300 games 14 -299 games and 2-298 games.  His love for the game is not only on the lanes , but also in the organization of bowling!  His is currently teaching at Wichita North High School where he is the head bowling coach.  In 2004 his girls team finished 3rd in the first ever K.S.H.A.A. High School Bowling Tournament

     Congratulations to Mike for his Mike for his dedication to bowling on and off the lanes, as tonight we induct him into the Kansas State Bowling Association "Hall of Fame".

 

 

Riney Rinehart

 

Riney was born July 10, 1905 in Damar, Kansas.  He has been a resident of Kansas his whole life, and passed away in the fall of 2005 at the age of 100!  The Kansas State Bowling Association "Hall of Fame" plaque was presented to him on July 8, 2005 at his 100th birthday party by President Marshall McLin at Gage Center Bowl in Topeka. 

    Riney had a high game of 289 and a high series of 688 with a high average of 188.  He was a league secretary for over 20 years and still has a league named after him at Gage Center Bowl, called the Riney Rinehart 3-man scratch league.  He bowled in several ABC national tournaments, 30+ T.B.A. City Tournaments and 15+ Kansas State Bowling Association tournaments.  He finished 2nd in the team event at the "Great Ozarks Open" tournament (missing 1st place by 1 pin), and finished 2nd in the Atchi-Kan Tournament in the All Events before winning his first T.B.A. City tournament team title in 2001 at the age of 96!  He bowled on the Hall of Fame team, which included team members, Rex Haney, Dale Euwer, Craig Trapp, and Michael Long.

     His league participation at the age of 94 was 5 leagues, at 95 he bowled in 5 leagues, at 98 he participated in 4 leagues and at the young age of 99 he slowed down to only 2 leagues.  We would like to thank  Riney for his dedication and contributions to the sport of bowling and the enthusiasm he had for the game.  We will deeply miss his smile, his sportsmanship and his contributions to bowling.  Congratulations to him, for being elected into the Kansas State Bowling " Hall of Fame".  Your love for the game will be deeply missed.

 

 

 

William "Bill" Busby

 

Bill was born March 30, 1965 and Has enjoyed Kansas his whole life.  He began bowling at the age of 5 and had immediate success as he bowled a 299 at the age of 13 in a Youth League at Southwest Bowl. 

     Bill has been a member of the Topeka Bowling Association board of Directors for 13 years, where he served as director, Vice President for 6 years and President for 2 years.  He is currently a member of the Southwest Tournament board of directors as the Kansas representative.  On the local level, Bill has accomplished many triumphs!  They include a 3 - time TBA city team champion (1998, 1999, and 2000), 1 TBA city doubles champion (Terry Copp) 3 TBA city singles championships and 4 TBA All Events championships   He has 3 TBA city mixed doubles titles (Deanna Uhl), and 3 TBA city mixed All - Events titles and was selected as "Bowler of the Year" in Topeka twice!  In 1997 and 1998 he won the Gardner Floor Covering Master Tournament.

     He has participated in 13 consultative ABC/USBC National tournaments and 22 years in the annual Kansas State Bowling championship tournaments.  In the KABA championship tournament he has 2 All Events titles (1988 and 1992), 2 time team champion in Division I (Topeka Blue Print) which won back to back state titles in 2002 and 2003.  Bill also competed on the PBA tour in 1990 for 1 year where he had limited success.  He is a 3 - time winner of the Topeka Top Ten tournament which is composed of the top ten averages in the city of Topeka.  He has been bowling in organized and sanctioned leagues for 35 years in Topeka.

     Bill has 17-800 series to his credit with 833 being his high (277-277-279), 22-300 games (two while on the PBA tour), 10- 299 games 1-198 game with a lifetime average of233!  He was elected into the Topeka Bowling Associations " Hall of Fame" in 2002.  Congratulations to Bill for all his dedication and contributions to the game of bowling!  the accomplishments you have proven on the lanes with the dedication of bowling off the lanes are greatly appreciated; and tonight we are glad to welcome you into the Kansas State Bowling Association "Hall of Fame".  You are a deserving individual and we wish you the best of luck as you continue to perform on and off the lanes.
